Thank you again for inquiring about professional counseling.  I realize by the time most people have the courage to call for counseling; it is difficult to be placed on a wait list.  Please know I will do my best to see you as soon as possible.  Below is a brief list of commonly asked questions regarding my practice.  If I can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact my office.

Most importantly, please know your progress is the center focus of my therapy.  I recognize your time is very valuable.  If at any point you do not believe we are connecting in a way that is best for you, I invite you to please discuss this with me. Our relationship, though challenging at times, must be one based on trust and your ability to feel safe during the sessions with me. I invite any feed back you can give me and I am firmly committed to meeting your needs to the best of my ability.

FAQ

What is your personal background?

I have been in private practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor for the past years.  I am a father of three children, including a girl and two boys, and have been married for 6 years.  I use a variety of counseling techniques depending on the needs presented. The basis of my counseling and life philosophy is my Christian faith.

How many years experience do you have as a counselor?

I have been practicing for two years

Are you professionally licensed?

Yes, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (L.P.C.)

Is your counseling style solely based upon religious methods?

No, I use a wide range of techniques to address the specific needs of each client.  The spiritual aspect of a whole person is only one dimension of a complete and helthy psyche, albeit a very important one.

Do you treat only Christians?

No, in fact as a Christian I am called to reach out to all individuals not just those who profess my exact beliefs.

What are your session times/prices?

Each individual session is 45- 50 minutes (one hour to allow time for bookkeeping) in length for a fee of $95 or a 100 minute session (one and half hours) for $142.50.  Some first sessions and most sessions with more than one person will be scheduled for the 100 minutes to ensure good progress.

When are you available to see clients?

I work Monday through Saturday from 9 AM until 8 PM.

How do I schedule an appointment?

You may schedule an appointment by e-mailing us at joshuagschwartz@gmail.com, by calling 214-938-3927, or by using the feedback form located on the Contact Us page of this website.

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

If you need to cancel an existing appointment, kindly give a 24 hour notice or you will be charged a cancellation fee.

Do you accept insurance?

No, at this time I do not currently accept insurance.  I will however provide all the necessary documentation to help you file a claim for insurance purposeses.

What type of payment do you accept?

Check or cash is the acceptable means of payment. Checks can be made out to Veritas Christian Counseling for the full session amount.  If you are unable to pay the full amount, arrangements can be made prior to session depending on income level and circumstances. I will gladly assist you in filing insurance if the proper documentation has been provided. I am not associated with any insurance carriers and therefore, it will be considered out-of-network mental health coverage.

What can I do to help improve my progress?

Most clients find it very helpful to bring a notebook with them to each session. This is useful in writing down thoughts during the session to ponder at a later time, set goals for the week, and track your progress.  It will also provide a means of organizing your handouts and homework assignments.
